About

Growing up in Muscoda, Wisconsin, right along the Wisconsin River and all the opportunities it offers, I spent countless hours on the river and its backwaters. My Dad, an outdoor writer and nature photographer, taught me to hunt and fish along this river, but even more importantly, he instilled in me a great love for nature and the river itself.

As I grew older, and my career beckoned, I moved away from the area. Those years away made me appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of this area and what it has to offer even more, as I never found another place quite like it.

And, now that I have moved back and have been blessed with the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of this region every day, my appreciation only continues to grow.  But, at the same time my esteem for this area grows, society in general is continually moving away from its own appreciation of nature, and not just here, but everywhere.

So, I am creating The Sandy River website to document the beauty of the Lower Wisconsin River, as well as the driftless area surrounding the river. From the area’s natural beauty, to the myriad of activities that happen in and along the river and surrounding areas, this area has something to offer for everybody, and I am hoping to share this with others.

As I continue this venture, I hope to get input from others about places and activities they enjoy in this area as well. And hopefully, will be able to share some of these other perspectives as well.
